Three ways smart glasses handle a prescription
Integrated lenses ground to your prescription and fitted in the frame; inserts that clip behind the device optics; or wearing the device over your existing glasses. Integrated lenses feel best, inserts support the widest power range, and over-glasses designs are mostly industrial.
Progressive lenses need extra care
A progressive lens has a corridor of changing power. A waveguide or a display element inside the lens competes for that same space. Some manufacturers support progressives, some do not, and some only in specific frame shapes.
Strong prescriptions and astigmatism
High sphere powers mean thicker lenses, which affects frame geometry and sometimes display alignment. High cylinder adds another constraint. Ask for a supported range in numbers rather than a yes or no.
What to ask before you order
What sphere and cylinder range is supported? Are progressives available? Can lenses be replaced later as my prescription changes? Who fits and adjusts the frame? What happens if the display does not align with my pupil?
