Camera-free smart glasses are becoming their own category

A growing group of devices deliberately omit cameras. Lenscript looks at why that decision is a feature, not a limitation.

The most common objection to smart glasses is not the price or the battery. It is the camera pointed at everyone else in the room.

Camera-free devices answer that objection at the hardware level. They can still deliver navigation, notifications, translation, teleprompting and audio AI — the features people use daily.

For hospitals, schools, secure facilities and many workplaces, camera-free is the difference between allowed and banned.
