A see-through display has to compete with daylight. That is why microLED, with its extreme brightness per watt, became the light engine of choice.
Producing red, green and blue microLEDs at the same efficiency, on the same die, at usable yields, is a materials problem rather than an optics problem.
The practical consequence for buyers: monochrome text and simple graphics will remain the norm in glasses-form displays for now.
